Two of my good friends got married recently. This is what I put together for them. I really wanted to make it something personal for them, so I got a hold of some of their original love letters that started it all, and incorporated them throughout the system. Remembering that it was a post-it note that lead to their first date, I thought it was a great place to start. So I made his and hers post-it notes, personalized with a phrase from their letters, hoping that when they leave notes for one another they'll always have these little reminders of where it all began... remembering that one little note can make a difference.

A friend of mine got me involved in producing a couple pieces of art for Roost (a new sandwich shop in town). The only criteria was that it had to involve chickens some how, other than that, go nuts. Keeping that in mind, I also wanted the viewer to be left with a good feeling after looking at them.

These cards would be used to promote The Match Factory's t-shirt line - ID Attire. Visually we wanted to carry out the over all thought of one's identity, ideas and clothing. The black and white pattern for the backs seemed to work the best... didn't have to worry about alignment when screen printing, plus it gives it an industrial feel which goes along with being in a factory.

With this project I wanted to try and communicate the unique strengths of both the male and the female. They were hung facing each other, smiling in admiration, to show the dependance of one for the other. These were done for a show in a local gallery. I only had room for 2 pieces and I have always wanted to do something for my parents... 2 of my biggest fans, yet the same folks that washed my mouth out with soap for foul language.

WE DESIGN YOU
Everything is design. It's close. Soon the genes that give us our eye color, our hair texture, our humanness, will be as easy to slip into as the jeans we slide over our hips. Basically the improbable becomes the possible. People fly. Travel faster than sound. Appear in multiple places. We have been designed to accept the fruits of intuition as the norm. We even go so far as to rely on the structures set forth for us by our forefathers. God bless them. We're comfortable now. We can either leisurely mea nder through subliminal messaging that's physically driven, or actually wake up and use our ancestral tools. Imagination. Foresight. Intuition.
••• WE DESIGN MINDS
Everything is design. Graphic designers do not only design the packaging, the identity, the brand----basically every interaction between the consuming public, the product, the information--we design what's perceived. By designing perception, we can design minds. We can change the very way citizen-consumers speak, think, feel, respond and interact. Those of us in this position must recognize the potential power we have over the minds of others, and exercise discretion. For those on the receiving end, we must empower them to make their own decisions, to recognize the difference between manipulation and information.
••• WE DESIGN THE WORLD
Everything is design. The clothes and trinkets that give us our identity. The structures that shelter us. The pavement that connects us one to another. Good design is invisible. The unnatural becomes seamless with the natural to a point where the unexpected becomes the expected, even boring. With these marvels--birthed out of pure human intuition--we are evolving as a society. Therefore, a responsibility lies upon us all to decide what we evolve into: A utopian co-existence held together by rivets of philanthropy, benevolence, and imagination, or a populace that plunders the human intelligence to overthrow, horde, and capitalize upon the misfortune of others?

Fuck The Crowd
I am an individual, with my own mind and my own opinions. Do not count me as just one of the flock looking to lead by ad wizards, marketing gurus and pop iconography. For those of you who relentlessly pursue my conformity, (whether sheep or shepherd)
I will not waste my breath with what I can accomplish with just one finger.
Continuing on the thought of an individualism, I
progressed from the image of flipping a flaming bird,
to just a flaming bird.

The ID
-

Description - Poster
•••
The name, The ID is taken from the Freudian theory of the human psyche, which is broken up into the ID, the ego and the super ego. The ID focuses on the most basic of human needs (food, shelter and such). Coincidentally, ID can also stand as the abbreviation for Independent Design, which is concerned with the basics of visual communication (aesthetics, clarity and truth). As well as in the advertising industry, design still focuses on the visual communication. However, with the corporate influence involved, the aesthetics and truth are often stifled in order to push more product and produce more of a profit.
Though it may be the case, we should all be conscious of factors that influence our decisions. Guided independently, we will rise above the preferred mentality of the corporate industry.

The ID. The name is taken from the Freudian theory of the human psyche, which is broken up into the ID, the ego and the super ego; where the ID focuses on the most basic of needs. Coincidentally, The ID is also the abbreviation for Independent Design, which is not concerned about pushing product or monetary gains. Comparatively, in the advertising industry, design focuses on the
basic of needs and desires of communication, which is the aesthetic, and weather or not the simple truths are being communicated properly.
However, a relationship does exists between the two, represented by the universal symbol for business: the hand shake. Since both sides of this relationship have conflicting interests, there also exists an ongoing struggle thus the hand shake is illustrated as thumb wrestling.

So my girlfriend wanted to replace the 50 Cent poster she has in her room with a picture of me. I couldn't agree more. But she's expecting a huge, glossy, full color poster of myself, resembling that of a pop star. I just couldn't bring myself to go that route. So what I did was combined a strong force (the army) with the passion of love; giving us the Army of Love. Yep, the army may not be too romantic, but neither is 50 Cent.
